About the Department
The West Valley-Mission College District Police Department is a P.O.S.T certified, full-service law enforcement agency, employing police officers whose law enforcement authority is granted under Section 830.32 of the California Penal Code and Section 72330 of the California Education Code. The District Police Department is not a branch of any other law enforcement agency. Our police offices have full police powers similar to local city police officers or county sheriff’s.

Responsibilities
The department is responsible for a wide range of public safety services, including criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, traffic accident investigation, and all other incidents requiring police assistance. We maintain Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff and the City of Santa Clara Police Department outlining our Part-1 Crime Offenses, investigative responsibilities, and hours of operations.
The primary responsibility and jurisdiction of the West Valley-Mission College District Police Department are on or near the properties owned, operated, and controlled by the District. We provide law enforcement services seven (7) days a week from 6:30 am -- 2:00 am. During non-hours of operation from 2:00 am through 6:30 am, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department handles calls for service at West Valley College and the City of Santa Clara Police Department handles calls for service at Mission College.
