Wellness Vending Machine

There are two wellness vending machines, one on each campus.

The wellness vending machine at Mission was given to us by the county through a Narcan Distribution project that Santa Clara County was putting on for colleges in the county. That vending machines only specifications were that we had to have Narcan in the vending machine. The vending machine at Mission is in campus center, under the stairs that lead up to the Basic Needs office, right across from the desk that takes Student ID pictures.

Inside the Vending Machine
  • Narcan and Fentanyl Testing Strips, receives through the state distribution system.
  • Female & male condoms, as well as lube, received through the country distribution system.
  • At-home Covid Testing Kits, bought through the district.
  • Over-the-counter medication and Plan B, funded by Student Health Services funding and grant money.

The one on West Valley's Campus was bought through a $15k grant that was given to us specifically for the purchase of the vending machine itself, as well as the items that we put into it. The approximate cost of the vending machine with delivery as well as an ADA piece was around $9-10k. We now have $5k to spend over the course of 5 years for the contents. The specifications on what was to be put in the vending machine were left up to each college, it just needed to be wellness related, and needed to be tracked over the course of 5 years. We started tracking in March and filled the vending machine once a week (during the school year, it is once to twice a month during the summer). West Valley's vending machine is in the Campus Center, when facing the cafeteria to the right. Across the way from the Fox Building.

Inside the Vending Machine
