The district provides two wellness vending machines, one on each campus.

Location
In Campus Center, under the stairs that lead to the Basic Needs office and just across from the desk that takes student ID photos.
Inside the vending machine
- Narcan and fentanyl testing strips. (Received through the state distribution system.)
- Female and male condoms, as well as lube. (Received through the county distribution system.)
- At-home Covid testing kits. (Bought through the district.)
- Over-the-counter medication and Plan B. (Funded by Student Health Services funding and grant money.)
The wellness vending machine at Mission was given to us by the county through a Narcan distribution project that Santa Clara County was putting on for colleges in the county. The only specification was that the vending machine has to offer Narcan.

Location
In Campus Center. When facing the cafeteria, it’s to the right. Across the way from the Fox building.

The wellness vending machine at West Valley was bought through a $15,000 grant given to us specifically for the purchase of the machine itself as well as the items we put into it. The approximate cost of the vending machine with delivery as well as an ADA piece was around $9,000 to $10,000, leaving us with $5,000 to spend over the course of five years for the machine’s contents.
The specifications of what to put in the vending machine were left up to each college, with the understanding that it be wellness related and that it must be tracked over the course of five years. We started tracking in March and fill the vending machine once a week during the school year (and once to twice a month during the summer).
