2025 Benefits Open Enrollment

Starting Monday, September 16th, you can login to Alight Worklife (formerly SmartBen)  and make changes to your elections.

Open Enrollment dates are September 16, 2024, to October 11, 2024. Changes made during Open Enrollment take effect January 1, 2025. During Open Enrollment, you can:

  • Change your medical and/or dental plan
  • Add or remove eligible dependents
  • Cancel your existing medical, dental or vision plan(s)
  • Enroll in a medical, dental or vision plan, if currently waived
  • Enroll or change volume in voluntary life and/ore accident death and dismemberment insurance plans
  • Begin or re-certify cash-in-lieu status – Annual certification is required
  • Enroll or re-enroll in a flexible spending account (FSA) – Annual enrollment is required to continue to participate each year
Open Enrollment changes are due Friday, October 11, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
Changes you make are effective January 1, 2025.

  • CalPERS PPO plans carrier change from Anthem to Blue Shield – watch the PERS Gold and PERS Platinum video link (below) for more details
  • Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) annual election limit is $3,200 for 2025
  • HMO network expansions for Blue Shield Trio, Kaiser, and UnitedHealthcare Harmony
  • Employee contributions for all groups have increased for Anthem HMO plans and PERS Platinum PPO – review the cost sheets (below) for specific changes on other plans
  • Delta Dental PPO Enhancements – lower deductible, adult coverage for orthodontia, and implant benefit improvements including a separate annual maximum benefit for implants

CalPERS Medical

CalPERS hosted an Open Enrollment webinar for members on September 12th. If you were not able to join that webinar, slides from the presentation are available to view (linked below) and a recording of the webinar is available on the CalPERS YouTube channel .

Delta Dental 

The District offers employees in a dental PPO plan offered by Delta Dental or a dental HMO plan offered by DeltaCare.

Delta Dental Incentive PPO

  • Members must choose a primary care dentist
  • No annual deductible
  • Schedule of copays based on services
  • Orthodontia coverage for adult and child

DeltaCare HMO

  • Providers available in or out of network
  • In-network providers offer more benefit coverage
  • Plan covers 70% in-network (for most services) and increases 10% each  year with at least one visit to the dentist until 100% coverage is reached
  • Orthodontia coverage for adult and child
