Anyone at any age can become injured or ill for an extended period of time. Long-term disability (LTD) coverage helps in those situations.
Employees are automatically enrolled in LTD, which replaces a monthly maximum of $5,000 if you are disabled for more than 90 days or at the end of accumulated sick leave, whichever is later, and are unable to work. LTD benefits are offset with other sources of income, such as Social Security and Workers' Compensation.
