Webster L. Owens General Services & Facilities Center

Webster L. Owens served as a custodian at West Valley College from 1990 to 2013. Known for often asking staff, faculty and students, “Do You Need Anything”, Webster was always willing to go above and beyond with a true desire to help others. His service and compassion for others embodies the campus spirit that we strive to build at WVC. It is our honor to dedicate this building to Webster L. Owens in memory of his dedication to the college and his caring spirit that left an invaluable impact on the campus community.

The Facilities team includes more than 60 talented individuals dedicated to providing the custodial, grounds, fleet maintenance, building maintenance and operations, administrative support and supervision to support our college community for both the academic support and community engagement support for rentals and events. We are especially proud of our culturally diverse staff, and longevity and dedication that ensure our beautifully maintained campuses.

The District’s Facilities Department maintains two campuses, Mission College and West Valley College, with a total building square footage of 1,205,454 Gross Square Feet and 307 acres. The facilities team provides facility maintenance through its skilled trades or with vendor agreements for all its physical resources with a full-time staff of facilities administrative staff, building maintenance mechanics, groundskeepers, and custodians.

The Facilities Department aims to ensure a safe and inviting working and learning environment by maintaining buildings and grounds in adherence to safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards. We strive for operational efficiency to support West Valley College and Mission College’s educational mission while preserving and enhancing physical assets through regular maintenance and strategic planning.

Maintenance requests can be submitted online through our WVM Service Request System. Here you may submit a ticket to report an issue.

Please include the campus location (building and room number), select the appropriate category/subcategory, and include a detailed description of the issue, and any other relevant information, such as when the problem was first noticed.

Response times vary based on the urgency and nature of the request. Urgent requests are prioritized and typically addressed within a few hours. Non-urgent requests may take up to several days or more.

Yes, you can check the status of your request online through the WVM Service Request System. Here you may also send updates to our maintenance team.

Generally, you do not need to be present, but please make sure the area is accessible. If special arrangements are needed, please indicate this in your request.

If you believe that the ticket has not been resolved, please reply to the Ticket Resolved email to automatically reopen the ticket. If there is no response from you, we will assume that the ticket has been resolved and the ticket will be automatically closed after 48 hours.

You can provide feedback through the WVM Service Request System, via a survey prompted after services have been completed. Your input will help us improve our services.
