Cade Story-Yetto
As the Chief of Staff to the Chancellor, Cade Story-Yetto directs the district's governmental and public affairs strategy, manages high-impact projects across district operations, and serves as the Chief Advisor to the Executive Management Team (EMT). Collaborating closely with the Board of Trustees, Cade shapes and advocates for the district’s legislative agenda at the city, county, state, and federal levels. Notably, he partnered with Assemblymember Marc Berman to introduce AB 3158, aimed at codifying in state law WVMCCD’s tuition and enrollment waivers to expand free college access. Cade has restructured the district's governmental affairs function, established a bi-annual review process for updating board policies, and contributed to the expansion of the District Promise Program. He has also secured strategic partnerships with key entities such as SASCC, Blendid, KCAT, and Brailsford & Dunlavey to enhance community services, improve operational infrastructure, and reimagine the district dining operation. Additionally, Cade leads the Legislative Policy & Oversight Committee and facilitates the District Council.
Cade began his community college journey as a Student Trustee at West Valley College, where he advocated for his fellow students at the board level, led several campus clubs focused on entrepreneurship and volunteerism, and founded the Service Learning Institute (SLI). The SLI sent hundreds of students on service and study abroad projects to countries such as Cambodia, Puerto Rico, Peru, and China. After graduating as Valedictorian of West Valley College, he transferred to UCLA as a Regents Scholar, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Entrepreneurship with honors. Before rejoining WVMCCD, Cade worked in venture capital and project management, underwriting and negotiating venture capital deals in the sustainability sector. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Leadership at San Jose State University.
