Investigation

Mission Statement

It is the goal of the college district police investigation office to investigate any crime or mishap that occurs on the West Valley-Mission College District property; and to report its findings to the College District Police Chief, the College District Chancellor's Office and if applicable, to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office for possible criminal prosecution.

What We Investigate

The West Valley-Mission College District Police is the primary law enforcement agency for the properties controlled by the West Valley-Mission Community College District.  The Investigations office assists officers of the College District Police with on going criminal investigations, collects and processes evidence and works as a liaison between the College District Police and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.  That is not to say another agency will not assist us during any investigations and certain crimes.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Pursuant to Senate Bill (SB) 1729 and Section 67381 of the State of California Education Code requirements, we maintain two separate and valid written MOU's (Memorandums of Understanding) with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Santa Clara Police Department outlining our Part-1 Crime Offenses, investigative responsibilities, and hours of operations.

In compliance with Senate Bill (SB) 1729,  these agreements (MOU’s) are available to the public and the copies of these agreements have been transmitted to the Legislative Analyst.

You Too Can Help

The College District Police does its best to investigate criminal activity on its 2 college campuses, but we can not do it alone.  We rely on citizens getting involved, stepping forward and reporting crimes.  If you have witnessed a crime, suspicious activity or behavior out of the ordinary, please call.  We can be reached in one of the following manners.

· Dial 911 (From any campus phone), if there is an immediate threat to life or property or crime in progress.

· Call (408) 299-2311, to report suspicious activity or prior crimes.

· Call (408) 741-2092, to talk with a college district police employee about a prior case or occurrence.
