The West Valley-Mission College District Police Department is a P.O.S.T certified law enforcement agency. The West Valley-Mission College Police Department is not a branch of any other law enforcement agency. Police Officers are duly appointed sworn peace officers and have full police powers similar to your local city police departments or county sheriff. The department is responsible for a wide range of public safety services, including crime reports, traffic accidents, criminal investigations, and all other incidents requiring police assistance. Pursuant to Senate Bill (SB) 1729 and Section 67381 of the State of California Education Code requirements, we maintain two separate and valid written Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Santa Clara Police Department outlining our Part-1 Crime Offenses, investigative responsibilities, and hours of operations. In compliance with Senate Bill (SB) 1729, these agreements (MOU’s) are available to the public and the copies of these agreements have been transmitted to the Legislative Analyst. The primary responsibility and jurisdiction of the West Valley-Mission College District Police Department is for the properties the West Valley-Mission Community College District owns, operates, and maintains. We provide law enforcement services 7 days a week from 6:30 am-2:00 am. During our non-hours of operation from 2:00 am through 6:30 am, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department handles calls for service at West Valley College and the City of Santa Clara Police Department handles calls for service at Mission College.

Emergency & Non-Emergency Call Notification
When you call 9-1-1 or the non-emergency Sheriff / Police number at (408) 299-2311, dispatchers or call takers who answer the calls for service are not West Valley-Mission College employees and have no affiliation with the West Valley-Mission College Police Department. The Sheriff and the Police dispatch center is located in a remote location away from our college campuses and cities.
Some dispatchers or call takers may not be familiar with specific buildings and locations on either campus. In an effort to be able to better serve you, please be patient and answer any questions the dispatchers or the call takers will ask you. Please be advised, the West Valley and Mission College campus police offices are business offices only and not dispatch centers.
All non-police related questions or requests such as heating, air-conditioning, restroom problems, classroom or gym lighting issues, or other similar requests should be directed to the appropriate West Valley-Mission College facility or department.
Emergency: Dial 9-1-1 If there is an immediate threat to life or property, crimes in progress, suspicious activity or package, please call 9-1-1. All calls are recorded.
Non-Emergency Sheriff / Police: For non-emergency calls such prior auto collisions, hit and run accidents, theft, incidents, or other non-emergency police related questions you may call the Santa Clara County Sheriff / Police Dispatch Communications at (408) 299-2311 and request a West Valley-Mission College Police Officer.
