Welcome to the West Valley-Mission Community College District Police website.

The West Valley–Mission District Police Department is a progressive and professional organization. The employees of the District Police Department are dedicated to the safety and well-being of the students, staff, faculty, and visitors on our campuses.

We work in partnership with our campus communities to promote a safe and secure learning environment to work and learn.  We want to make the time you spend on our campuses as safe and secure as possible. Please feel free to approach any of our officers and civilian personnel with questions or concerns.

About the Department 

The West Valley-Mission College District Police Department is a P.O.S.T certified,  full-service law enforcement agency, employing police officers whose law enforcement authority is granted under Section 830.32 of the California Penal Code and Section 72330 of the California Education Code.  The District Police Department is not a branch of any other law enforcement agency. Our police offices have full police powers similar to  local city police officers or county sheriff’s.

Mission

Provide outstanding service and safety through education and campus partnerships.

Responsibilities

The department is responsible for a wide range of public safety services, including criminal investigations, traffic enforcement,  traffic accident investigation, and all other incidents requiring police assistance.  We maintain Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff  and the City of Santa Clara Police Department outlining our Part-1 Crime Offenses, investigative responsibilities, and hours of operations.

The primary responsibility and jurisdiction of the West Valley-Mission College District Police Department are on or near the properties owned, operated, and controlled by the District. We provide law enforcement services seven (7) days a week from 6:30 am  -- 2:00 am. During non-hours of operation from 2:00 am through 6:30 am, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department handles calls for service at West Valley College and the City of Santa Clara Police Department handles calls for service at Mission College.

 Non-Emergency Assistance

​Non-Emergency Assistance

County Communications dispatch center

For non-emergency calls such prior auto collisions, hit and run accidents, theft, incidents, or other non-emergency police related questions you may call the Santa Clara County Communications dispatch center at 1-408-299-2311. Request a West Valley-Mission Community College District Police Officer to assist you.  Call takers or dispatcher may not be familiar with specific buildings and locations on either campus. In an effort to be able to better serve you, please be patient and answer any questions the call takers or dispatchers ask you.

Please be advised, the West Valley and Mission College campus police offices are business offices only and not dispatch centers.

After Hours non-Emergency Calls

All non-police related questions or requests such as heating, air-conditioning, restroom problems, classroom, gymnasium, lighting issues, or other similar requests should be directed to the appropriate West Valley-Mission Community College District facility or department and not to the Santa Clara County Communications dispatch center.

Call or Text 9-1-1

If you believe there is a threat to life or property, crimes in progress, suspicious activity, or any other situation requiring an emergency response - CALL or TEXT 9-1-1.


When you call 9-1-1 your call will be answered by the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) based on your location. If you are calling 9-1-1 from the area of West Valley College, the Santa Clara County Communications Dispatch Center is the assigned PSAP. County Communications receives the 9-1-1 call and dispatches or transfers the call for the appropriate emergency response. If you are calling 9-1-1 from the area of Mission College, the Santa Clara Police Communications Dispatch Center is the assigned PSAP. Santa Clara PD Dispatch Center receives the 9-1-1 call and dispatches or transfers the call for the appropriate emergency response.
