Inquiries
How can I compliment an officer?
You may write a letter of appreciation or send a card to the Chief of Police at 14000 Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga, CA 95070 or you may call at (408) 741-2092. Tell us the name of the officer and a brief summary of how the officer was helpful to you. The original letter or the card will be given to the officer and a copy will be placed in the officer’s personnel file. If you call, we will document your comments in writing and follow the same notification procedure. Can I make an appointment with the chief of police?
Yes, you can. However, once you have inquired about an appointment, the Chief’s Secretary will call you and ascertain if anyone else can help you first. If the Chief’s Secretary is unable to assist you or if your matter is such that you wish to discuss it privately with the Chief we will schedule an appointment for you. How do I make a complaint against an officer?
If you have any questions or concerns or you need information about the Police Department’s written policies, procedures, or practices, you may call the on duty supervisor at (408) 741-2092. If you wish to make a written complaint against an officer, you are required to fill out a complaint form, the legal advisory waiver form, and return the original signed documents to us. The form will explain everything you need to know and the process the police department follows to investigate a complaint. You may obtain these forms either in person by coming into our campus police stations or requesting them over the phone.
