Mr. Buck Polk Joins West Valley-Mission Community College District Board
The Board of Trustees for the West Valley-Mission Community College District has selected Mr. Buck Polk to replace Trustee Kevin Moore who left during his term after being elected to the Santa Clara City Council.
"With more than 36 years of experience in elementary and secondary education, Mr. Polk brings a fresh perspective to the District," says Bob Owens, President of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Polk is a former principal of both Laurelwood and Scott Lane elementary schools, both located in the Santa Clara Unified School District. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in History from Santa Clara University, and his Masters Degree in Secondary School Administration from Stanford University.
"I have lived and worked in the West Valley-Mission School District since it's inception and have developed an understanding of the community which should prove beneficial to the Board," says Mr. Polk.
During the interview process Mr. Polk said his decisions will be based on the best interests of the students - a philosophy at the heart of our District's mission, says Stan Arterberry, Chancellor.
Mr. Polk's interim appointment expires in November, 2006.
