Stan Arterberry

Stan Roger Arterberry began his career with the California community colleges in 1974 as an assistant professor of sociology and history at Riverside City College. He moved into college administration in 1980 as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Riverside, and in 1983 he took his first position at West Hills Community College as the Dean of Community Based Education. Three years later, he was named the Vice President for Academic/Student Services, and went on to become Superintendent-President of the district where he served until May 1993, when he was named President of Merritt College in Oakland. He became Superintendent-President of the Solano Community College District in July of 1994 and served there for 8 years.
Stan Arterberry holds a B.A. from Whittier College, Whittier California, and an M.A. in Sociology from Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia, as well as a certificate from Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management. He is also a community college alumnus, having graduated from Imperial Valley College, Imperial, California.
Mr. Arterberry's wife, Dr. Deborah Blue, is also involved in community college administration.
